Movie Love: 50/50

I saw the movie 50/50, starring Joseph Gordon Levitt and Seth Rogen, this weekend and thought it was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!  First of all, I am Joseph Gordon Levitt's biggest fan.  I've been loving him since his 3rd Rock from the Sun days!

ahem...

But yes, the movie was wonderful.  The film is loosely based on the experience of screenplay writer, Will Reiser.  The story follows a young man as he gets diagnosed with cancer and explores how that affects his life and relationships.  I'll be honest, I almost lost it in the theatre at one point.  It is a tearjerker but totally not in an emotionally manipulative way.  I thought the movie was well written, well acted, and filled with heart.  I love movies because of the potential they have to change my inner landscape.  I walked into the movie feeling slightly jaded and left with a renewed sense of gratitude for my life.  The idea that at any time, we could be diagnosed with a life threatening disease is a big reminder to live each day to the fullest.

I recommend this movie from the bottom of my heart.

True love will find me in the end.

This song.  Ah, this song gives me hope.

Still lookin' for my truest love.  I have faith I'll find him soon.  Handfuls of faith. More than I've had in a long, long while.

True love will find you in the end.
You'll find out just who was your friend.
Don’t be sad. I know you will,
But don’t give up until
True love finds you in the end.

This is a promise with a catch.
Only if you're looking will it find you,
‘Cause true love is searching too,
But how can it recognize you
Unless you step out into the light?
But don’t give up until
True love finds you in the end.

Creativity Inspiration: Brandon Boyd

Brandon Boyd is such a talented and creative artist.  He sings, illustrates, paints amazing works, and writes philosophical bliss.  I adore reading his interviews because he has such an interesting perspective.  He talks a lot about his creativity, inspirations, and the inner workings of his artistic process.  Brandon is also just completely and totally dead sexy.  He's quite honestly, da bomb. An excessive amount of pictures follow, because I have to include photos of his awesome artwork and his awesome self.

My creative process is both complex and simple. The complexities arise when I try and understand what I am doing when I am doing it. It's like trying to describe the sensation of love; one is better suited just experiencing it for oneself. But it becomes simple when I let go into the process and don't question it so much. Kind of a surrender into right brian, as it were. But for clarity's sake, I have waves of creativity, followed by times of drought. In these times, I have learned that just reading, listening to music, and surfing a whole lot help to pass the time before the next creative pulse arises. It's been this way in my life for as long as I can remember.  -Brandon Boyd

ben harper - when she believes.

Something really strikes me with this song. I want to play it at my wedding, I imagine this as some sort of epic backdrop. Ben Harper really makes my heart shiver.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is...amazing!

My blogging today is a little one-sided...it's all about Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Here he is singing en Francais. Enjoy the awesomeness!

Zooey and Joey.

Recently I wrote a blog post gushing over the movie 500 Days of Summer  and how in love I am with the film's stars, Zooey Deschenel and Joseph Gordon Levitt.  I come back to these two today, because I am intrigued by seeing these awesome photographs of them together in real life.  I just think they are so adorable and amazing together.

Ok, so that one is from the movie, but isn't it sweet?

Happy weekend, everyone!!

I love you, 500 Days of Summer.

So tonight I babysat (I've totally been babysitting for over a decade now and it never ceases to be my favorite gig) and after the kiddos went off to dreamland, was so happy to be greeted with 500 Days of Summer playing on TV! In high-def none the less, gotta love rich La Jolla families.

Oh my gosh, this movie breaks my heart every time I watch it. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschenel are so good in this. I have loved Joey Gordon-Levitt since his "3rd Rock from the Sun" days! I seriously love him in every single thing he has ever done and I want to live in a world where I wake up next to him grinning at me every morning. *Sigh* I can really go off the deep end about this guy.

If you haven't seen this movie, go see it. I guarantee it will make your heart ache at the memory of a personal situation from your own life that resonates with what these characters go through. I really appreciate how honest and true this movie feels. It is a true love story, which is why it can be depressing at times. Aint love grand?

I love Jack Johnson!

How cool is he here? I love how laid back and open to enjoying life he is. He is a crush and an inspiration. Double whammy status.

This video makes me want to swim in the ocean all day long. Soaking your soul in the sea cures any and every malady.

Yes, please.

I really love Jack Johnson, like, a lot. Shaggy haired boys are more my style, but I always accepted Jack Johnson's modest buzz cut. He's a surfer, he's on the go...I understood his need for a no-nonsense hair style.

But Jack Johnson is seriously too much now that he has shaggy hair. There I was, browsing through an issue of Rolling Stone, when I saw these flowing locks! He is more amazing than I ever thought possible...*sigh*.

Boys are cute, funny, silly things. I love them and it's fun seeing two men who are great friends play off each other in hilarious ways. These are some of my favorite bromances!
